Because the spring…

Because the spring brings the birds, it bears repeating.

“A Common Bird sings, for the dawn as it brings new light to the love she has known.”

Full video coming soon! Enjoy this in the meantime, dearies.

In Ottawa this morning after dreams of splendor and surreal delight I sit, sipping tea and writing postcards.

Tonight we take to the stage in Montreal. I’ll put my hopeful melancholy under the lights at Grumpy’s. All love and la la in the belle province!

But by slumber the world was aglow. The colours warm with the tint of sepia or gold and I was far from the urban places of my waking life.

In dreams I ran the wilds of the Canadian shield with the pets of our many hosts. Luta, Hyser, Butler, and the mysterious white lab I met at the first nations gallery along the highway.
We ran in tall grasses at sunrise.
Domestic wolves howling to the sun as it lifts it light to cast a shadow on the land.

Monday Magazine!

Hooray!
A lil’ love from the editor at Victoria’s Monday Magazine!

Song stuck in my head

“Stagger” by Jess Hill. Vancouver-based folk noir singer-songwriter Jess Hill has a haunting quality to her voice that perfectly complements her storytelling lyrics. Her newest CD, Orchard, is filled with stinging emotions and raw energy that skillfully moves from blues-draped guitar to folk to alt-country and back again.

Fort Frances and Rossport!

The highways of Northern Ontario ate my cell signal. Our resting place for tonight in Sault Ste. Marie gave it back.
Tomorrow we drive into the arms of Jeff’s parents for a night and then it’s off to Montreal to sing at Grumpy’s on Friday. The kindness of strangers and their wireless signal allow me to present you with some pictorials, my favourite being the first one. A portrait of my new friend Hyser in his yard in Fort Frances.

The view this morning….

It’s snowing in Ymir. It snowed all night and most of yesterday too. Winter still holds court here.
