it’s raining…and there’s this…
it’s raining…and there’s this…
I am happily nesting in autumn.
Today baking pumpkin pie and reading about these SLIME MOLDS
Magic everywhere!
September was beautiful.
Gratitude and blissful thanks to all those who came out to a show and swayed their hips and tapped their toes with me.
October is upon us…
Stay tuned…

Somehow after what has been referred to as the coolest, cloudiest summer of my lifetime I am the most tanned I have been since my trip to South Africa in 2004.
The tan I achieved in Africa was the first tan I had ever really had and was a direct result of sunburns obtained while working outdoors at De Whoop Nature Reserve.
This year I was very diligent with my sunscreen and suddenly appear to be honey dipped.
It’s all very surprising as I am usually pale or pink.
I think the sun in my skin has brought me to my summer saturation point. I am weathering the sunny days less well than I was when I was a reflective surface.
I am longing for the cool, crisp air of autumn and pining for the kind of weather that suggests I wrap myself in a scarf, pull up my tights and strap on my boots.
I’d hold off on the rain a lil’ longer so as to have extra crispy leaves but I’d welcome a dip in temperature.
T-shirt friendly in the peak of the afternoon but sweater wise the rest of the day.
I crave the fall.
It’s my most creative season. I want to make, make, make!
Stay tuned to this page as in the coming months I hope to be unveiling a few one of a kind merch items and some delicious collaborations.
In the days to come that are close at hand you can find me singing in and about Vancouver.

The ladies and I are at Kispiox Valley Music Festival all weekend and far from the signal strength of cell phones and the Internet. Look after the city for us while we’re gone and I’ll kiss the mountain air for you!

It’s a rainy Thursday morning in East Vanistan and I am listening to the sounds of hard rain falling mingle with unfamiliar music and sipping tea while I catch up with my favourite blog:
Lady Lavona’s Cabinet of Curiosities
I turn to Lady Lavona for finds of the most interesting quality and inspiring aesthetic.
I suggest you spend a little time in her cabinet.

Oh my goodness let’s start with this…after all if a picture speaks a thousand words, a moving picture must speak volumes!
This past February my talented team of dreamers and I took to the banks of the muddy Fraser and filmed this music video for my song A Common Bird.
Cindy Rose imagined and directed the video, Graeme Morgan of Orange Cat Creative shot it and Emily Mason Flinchum of Tousled Dolly fussed with the set dec all day in the snow!
The sneaky and charming woman tip toeing through the leaves is artist Katana Barnett. And my blue eyes were made more enticing by the miracle of make-up and Christohper Auger.
The birds of course, play themselves.
I also went to Toronto recently for NXNE and was fortunate enough to take part in a picnic series called LIVE IN BELLWOODS put on by HUMBLE EMPIRE and YOUNG LIONS MUSIC CLUB. They have just begun to populate their youtube channel with treats from this years picnic. My performance of my song “Orchard” is amongst the offerings. I’m told there are more to come, so stay tuned into them by subscribing!
I am also now officially in the market for a baritone ukelele. My lil’ collaboration with my good friend and ukelele enthusiast Martin Lunatech has sold me on the wonders of these sweet little four strings. For those of you that haven’t heard yet Martin and I won the contest the Vancouver Folk Festival was holding and we will be singing our lil’ ukelele tune on the Main Stage at the festival this Sunday. Much dreamy love to all of you who shared and liked our video and helped us win the slot. See you at the festival!
Here’s the song we will be singing – do please sing along – especially with the outro – if you are there! 🙂
Well I think that about brings us up to date.
In dreamy times and places and sincerely yours,
Jess Hill
Hey Dreamers,
It would be so splendid if you could follow this link and and click “LIKE” on the youtube video of my friend Martin and I.
If we have the most “LIKE”s by today at 5pm we could win a TWEENER set on the Sunday Night Mainstage of Vancouver Folk Festival!
THanks in advance for all your support!
See you soon,
Jess
